Who am I?
In the past I would have told you my title(s) and accomplishments in the hopes that you would be impressed. I was trying to engineer an outcome that wasn’t in my control.
Today, I say this. My name is Vince Fowler – I’m insatiably curious, I deeply value human connection, and I make every effort to exercise courage on a daily basis, be it in my work, my role as a husband and father, and my physical and mental health.
My past is certainly unique to me – a small town kid growing up in Williams Lake, BC with my mother and grandmother, by 11 I would be adopted through marriage thus becoming Vincent Fowler (Previously Vincent Lampert).
Like many, I experience school yard bullying, which in part for me is what motivated me to join the Canadian Armed Forces. I joined the infantry – Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, and become a paratrooper, volunteering for the Canadian Airborne Regiment. A deployment to Somalia, Africa, where the requirements to perform under pressure drove discipline and attention to detail, and hyper-vigilance was 24/7 – this is ultimately where I earned my MBA, a Masters in Boldness and can-do Attitude.
Professional Sales – selling everything from photocopiers, law enforcement equipment, health club memberships, mascots – is where I cut my teeth social and emotional intelligence. Sales cycles varied from one business to next, buyer’s motivations were equally as different, and the pressure to perform and drive revenue for my respective employers.
I was recruited to work with and coach student athletes as a strength & conditioning coach at Alberta’s first private school for developing athletes. For four years I worked with these exceptional students alongside their coaches, teachers, and sport psychologist – Dr. Matt “Brownie” Brown.
In 2010 my passion for coaching and business converged an I began my career in professional business coaching; Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Initially working at a Calgary based ActionCOACH firm with for other exceptionally experienced coaches, it’s here where I began to understand the inner workings of a business – how owners make their money, spend it, keep it, and balance growth with the competing needs of offerings and manpower.
Two years later, in September 2012, I left the firm to pursue my own coaching practice… the mission and vision remains the same, as I continue working with Entrepreneurs, CEOs, their leaders, helping them navigate the adversity and uncertainties of business, and the competing priorities and opportunities that they face.
